From Photo to Masterpiece: How I Create Custom Storefront Illustrations
Make it stand out
Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
Every illustrated shopfront I create starts with one simple thing: connection. My process is designed to capture the personality and soul of your business—not just your bricks and mortar. Here’s how it all comes to life:
1. The Brief
We start with a chat. You tell me about your shop, your story, and why you want it illustrated. You can send me your favourite photos, or I’ll help guide you on what works best. I want to understand the quirks that make your business you.
2. Sketching
Once I’ve got your photos and notes, I begin sketching. This is the rough draft where I play with composition and details. I’m already imagining how the colours and shapes will dance together.
3. Outlining the Outline (yes, really!)
This step is a bit of a signature move. After sketching, I create a clean, crisp black outline version that really sharpens everything. It’s also what becomes the black-and-white colouring version that’s included in your package.
4. Colouring
Here’s where your storefront really starts to shine. I add rich, layered colours to bring out textures, shadows, and vibrancy. Every awning, sign, pot plant and window gets the love it deserves.
5. Final Touches & Delivery
Once I’ve added any extra details or requested tweaks, you’ll receive the high-res files plus a professional print on archival-quality art paper. I also include a time-lapse video of the process (clients LOVE this bit!).
Your shop is more than a building—it’s a story. I just help bring it to life.
